South Buxton is south of Chatham U.C. and has a current population of 78, there being three roads and a church.

1860 GB QV 6d cover to Thomas Hendrick, Attorney, Kingston, Jamaica pmk'd LIVERPOOL "466" duplex dated 31 JY 60 showing both KINGSTON AU 20 1860 dbl-arc arrival and manuscript "1" for the allowed 1d on the half ounce, overall damp toning.
An Act of JU 14 1860 authorised the Colony to retain 1d on the half ounce mail. On AU 1 1860 Jamaica took control of her own Post Office.

BARBADOS postal history
1854 cover to Clifton, Bristol rated 1/- with PAID AT BARBADOES in red with JU 27 1854 despatch dbl-arc on reverse coupled with PAID AT BARBADOES in black on local cover pmk'd open bootheel duplex FE 20 93, plus further impressions in black, one overstruck bold "5", the other dated C/MR 4 96. The black strikes used during shortages of adhesives, and all three showing chipped short right leg in "A" of BARBADOES etc, the two covers with faults.

BARBADOS to TRINIDAD postal history
1866 entire with printed colourless embossed DUMMETT & Co. BARBADOS letterhead to E.H. Fitt & Co, Trinidad with 6d orange-red (SG.30) tied Bridgetown "1" bootheel with top flap displaying MR 6 66 despatch and Trinidad MR 8 1866 arrival, left frontal crease with central split.
On DE 1 1862 Barbados and Trinidad had agreed to abolish the collection of 1d from both sender and addressee, this prepaid 6d adhesive comprised 1d to port, 4d sea post, 1d delivery.

1874 printed headed entire by private ship "Pleiades" to New York with GB QV 2d blue pmk'd light "A25" duplex dated A/OC 9 74 landed with NEW YORK SHIP LETTER cds dated OCT 26 showing 4c to be collected. Ex METLISS, OSBORN, STIRRUPS.
'Direct' ship letters to New York were quicker and cheaper than mails via Liverpool.

HERO of the H.M.S. "BIRKENHEAD" SHIPWRECK DISASTER, Sierra Leone postal history
1852 letter from Lt-Colonel Alexander Seton written at Sierra Leone 29th January posted in GB QV 1d pink PSE to Edinburgh with MR 15 and MR 15 transit and arrival backstamps. This is the only letter he wrote from Sierra Leone and the penultimate letter before the tragic disaster in Simon's Bay in the early hours of 26th February 1852 which took about 445 lives.
A 4 page account of the disaster accompanies as prepared for the December 2018 British West Indies Study Circle journal.
